about

Taken from the album "No Closure" (2011). Mortal Music.

lyrics

They set to sea in search of fallen mates
A tale of oddity, their destiny an unknown fate
Cast the sail 1402
For what lied ahead, they had no clue
Northwestern arctic bound, gliding without sound
A change in weather, thus expected
Their nautical prescience, no longer undetected
The waves have grown so high
And winds have turned so cold
The decks are glazed with ice
Unforgiving to young and old
Bashing, smashing...against this beaten ship
Freezing ocean walls...won’t lose their grip
Sailors struggling for survival
A battle against Mother Nature

Ghastly tales of legend
A mere warning, not to be rivaled?

Superstations weighing, upon their feeble minds
Tales of banshees, crying for their end of time
We've been sailing for 40 days and 40 nights
In these glacially ridden waters of our lost might
Many discussions of mutiny amongst my crew
I'm now torn with what to do
The dark figure before me offers a game of chance
If I win we break free, but if I lose we shall see
No! How can it be?
I've lost, to face a fate that should not be
What a catastrophe
My men sentenced to die with me
Our doom is now reality
The storms now set in without mercy
Every line snapping around me
The mast suddenly breaks in three
You knew the price, what would become of thee
Should you lose? Yes, it's your destiny
They set to sail in search of fallen mates
But what they found was their (own) icy grave
